A little bit about The Gab;
The Gab is a community committed to the practice and preservation of the oral tradition of storytelling as well as the development of storytelling as a contemporary art.
The most important stuff to The Gab:
Respect for all storytellers and listeners
Storytelling cultural preservation and practice
Development of storytelling as a contemporary art
Building a diverse and inclusive storytelling community in and around Blarney and Cork
Our regular monthly event is called The Gab Mixtape, an entertaining evening of storytelling where storytellers perfect their storytelling skills in an informal, positive environment. Stories are interspersed with a little song and a little poetry but the spotlight is very much on the art of storytelling. The Gab Mixtape is not open mic. To become a storyteller at the Gab Mixtape you must agree with the important stuff above and get in touch.
The inaugural gathering of The Gab Mixtape took place in Coughlan's on the 30th of June 2016. One attendee described it as " ... much more than storytelling. It is entertaining, philosophical, mystical, musical and memorable."
The crowd demanded more and The Gab has had a storytelling related event almost every month since then. The monthly Mixtape is the staple but there's also been workshops, specials, competitions and much more in the pipeline.
