Grub Circus founder Joe McNamee has been writing about food since the late 1990s and is a weekly Food Columnist/Restaurant Reviewer and Food Feature Writer with the Irish Examiner and Munster Associate Editor for the Sunday Business Post’s 101 Great Irish Restaurants. 

A former Contributing Editor with John & Sally McKenna's Irish Food Guides, he also writes for other publications and works as a consultant for small producers, food retailers and restaurateurs. He is the author of  the cookbook/memoir, Clifford & Son (Liberties Press).

He has almost a decade of professional culinary experience, including two years as head chef in Cork’s legendary Quay Co-Op evening restaurant and has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Culinary Arts (Graduate Student of the Year) from CIT. He is a member of Slow Food Ireland and the NUJ and dearly loves to commit eating.

Grub Circus is a travelling food ‘roadshow’, setting up shop at festivals and events around Ireland, and programmed and hosted by Joe Mcnamee. It is equally dedicated to the notion that food is both a gloriously sybaritic pleasure and a fundamental human right and aims to join the dots and find any and all links between the two positions while having as much fun as is humanly possible without getting arrested!
